Hallo,
i build grib-api-1.11.0 with two Compilers and shared path for definitions:

1.
configure --prefix=/tmp/definition --exec-prefix=/tmp/1.11.0/gnu  CC=gcc FC=gfortran ....
make
make install
2.
configure --prefix=/tmp/definition --exec-prefix=/tmp/1.11.0/aix  CC=cc FC=f95 ...
make
make install

Content of /tmp/definition (for install architecture-independent files in PREFIX): include/ and share/ but
include/GRIB-API.mod is compiler-dependent
