Fedora linux 64-bit

On the ECMWF website precompiled packages (rpm's) are made available for download for several linux flavours. The interesting one for me is Fedora 64-bit.
The point I would like to make is that the Fedora repository offers a precompiled gribapi rpm, and the ECMWF website offers a different rpm for the same gribapi version and the same platform.
This I think is confusing. Which one should a user choose? The official "ECMWF" version, or the official "Fedora" version? I think it would be better if you would just refer to the prepackaged Fedora version, and bless that one to be the official one.
This would also solve the availability problem, i.e. ECMWF only offers the package for Fedora 16, which already is end-of-life and should no longer be used. The most recent version of Fedora is F18, which currently ships with gripapi v.1.9.16. Shipping of version 1.10 has been on hold since it was labelled "Beta", but since this tag seems to have been removed recently I have no doubt they will update the package soon.
An additional bonus is that Fedora also supports other architectures, i.e. i386 and ARM, which are not available from the ECMWF web site.
